How do I sew satin ribbon onto the bottom of tulle?

I've made a tutu for my daughter and would like to add satin ribbon to the bottom.

Particularly if it's a narrow satin ribbon and you don't want to enclose the edge of the tulle, "just do it"... topstitch it on. On narrow ribbons, it may be easiest to use a double needle and stitch down both edges at once.
You may or may not need stabilizer underneath the tulle.

Personally, I'd put the ribbon on while the tulle's still flat. Much easier sewing than after it's gathered up.

For quick sparklies on a child's play tutu, you might experiment with brushing the edge of the gathered tulle with Elmers or Sobo glue (just lightly!) and then blowing on glitter. This tends to make a "play with it in the yard" skirt, however...

Another easy trim to make, if you've got something like a five or seven hole cording foot, is to feed embroidery floss or perle cotton through the holes and then couch with a lightweight thread -- something like a three-step zigzag works well.
