High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancers shoe. These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and as such the dancers are considered to be musicians. During the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, the best tap dancers moved from Vaudeville to cinema and television. Steve Condos, with his innovative style of percussion tap, created a whole new tap style that he introduced to audiences in Vaudeville, and later to the audiences of film and Broadway. Prominent tap dancers of this period included Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Shirley Temple, John W. Bubbles, Charles Honi Coles, VeraEllen, Ruby Keeler, Gene Kelly, Ann Miller, Jeni LeGon, Fayard and Harold Nicholas of the Nicholas Brothers, The Clark Brothers, Donald OConnor, Eleanor Powell, Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable, Prince Spencer, Bill Bojangles Robinson, and Jimmy Slyde. Tap Shoe
i only have one tap on my shoe at the front, do you need to be an expert to have them on the heel as well?
I have been tap dancing for over 3 years, I am at the bronze stage and you wear taps on the heels of your shoes at the gold stage. I would really like to wear them, as tap is my favourite of the 4 types of dancing I do and I really want to go far in it.
Please help !
I've never heard of that.
I've been tapping for years, I started a beginner class when I was 5 and there were toe and heel taps.
I've actually never came across a pair of tap shoes with no heel tap when buying new tap shoes!!
The heel is used a lot for tapping, it's just as important as the toe, so I don't see why their wouldn't be a tap.
The answer is no, you don't have to be an expert for toe and heel taps.
