What Are Dance Accessories

by Dance Diva on June 6, 2011

As a result of shows like "Dancing with the Stars" there is a big upsurge in the amount of people going on onto the floor dancing ballroom, and Latin American dancing and that has caused a growing interest in dancing costumes together with the accompanying accessories.

Right now it may look like a stupid question but just what are accessories, how would you define them. This would depend on your point of view as well as what you are trying to find. Here are a few examples to clarify what I mean.

For someone first starting dancing, dancewear accessories could be items like bags to carry your dancing shoes, etc in or perhaps hair spray, hair bands, hair pins, and bun nets, etc meant for holding your hair kept back when ever dancing. These can be goods like for example shoe brushes or bronzers to help highlight those eye lashes.

In cases where you had gone to the ballet or some similar theatrical performance, dancing accessories might be thought as those types of goods that are generally purchased as novelties or souvenirs from the event for example posters, t-shirts, gift cards, books, CD's, etc.

For more professional dancers, dancing accessories could be defined as all those items which if used together make a full costume. Probably the most suitable example that will highlight just what I mean is found in your typical belly costume.

You may either purchase a complete costume or you can purchase separate products such as hip scarves, harem pants and tops, coin belts, headdresses, zills (little metallic discs worn upon your hands), Egyptian fringing, bracelets, necklaces, canes, and so on that may be grouped together in numerous variations to produce a truly erotic outfit.

In a few of the modern-day types of urban street dances in which the dances include loads of floor movements, knee or elbow pads used for defense to prevent accidents may also be deemed as dancing extras.

The same is true for shoes since you can easily also purchase steel or aluminum heel taps that includes tacks, screws and fiberboard. I have even heard that sticky back Velcro can be utilized as a dancing accessory when taped to the shoes, rough side down to help supply added grip, if needed, upon the dancing floor with out harming it for working on dances which involve loads of spinning movements, although I can't say that I have tried it.

Many products that make up dancing costumes are multifunctional, meaning they can also be used for other types of sporting events.
